Tomi Allen is an electrical engineer with over twenty years of experience in the solar and energy industries. From project management to product and system design, Allen has been immersed in virtually every aspect of the solar business. 

 

He grew up playing and working with solar technology at his father's company, Thermo Dynamics Ltd. (Canada's solar pioneers since 1981!), and is a key driver in the local and international solar industry. Based in Nova Scotia, he has worked throughout Europe, the US, Argentina and Indonesia and continues to develop projects and partnerships, both locally and globally. He regularly attends the world’s leading conferences and exhibitions on solar and smart energy technology to stay up-to-date and on the leading edge.

With a strong background in innovation, Tomi has led and learned with energy leaders at Halifax Solar City, Nova Scotia Community College Applied Energy Research, Dalhousie University, Fossil Power Systems, as an engineer on super yachts, and as a freelance consultant. He also composes and performs a variety of music from around the world, and contributes as a music facilitator to youth mental health programs, yoga and meditation studios.

Allen founded Alto Solar to empower individuals, families and communities with solar energy while inspiring a more harmonious and sustainable relationship with nature.
